Leather belt

This leather belt has three pouches and two flasks attached. It is thought that it would have been worn by a hunter, with the flasks used to store powder and the pouches to store shot. Modern bandoliers became more common than belts such as this after the widespread development of cartridge bullets.

The pouches and flasks on this belt have incised decoration, and a front panel hangs down from the belt with decorative metal discs and tassels. The level of ornamentation implies that this object was valued for its appearance as well as its functionality.
